You are a 3 part being. You are a spirit, you have a soul (your mind, will and emotions) and you live in a body.

When you get saved, your spirit is what is reborn and joined to the Lord. (John 3:5, 1 Cor 6:17, Gal 4:6, Romans 8:16)

Your soul, however, must be renewed to the Word of God. (Romans 12:2, Eph 4:23-24, Col 3:10)

Your body/flesh and it’s cravings must be crucified and put under. (Romans 8:13, Col 3:5-10, Romans 8:13)

Everything you do for God must be done out of your SPIRIT! He speaks to your spirit, not your soul/mind/emotions. He leads you by your spirit/heart, not your head!
Your head will be your biggest hindrance when it is unrenewed to t he Word. If you let it, you’ll reason yourself right out of the will of God for your life!
When you are born again, and are living right, you can listen to what your heart is telling you and follow that.

Prov 20:27 “The spirit of man is the lamp of the LORD, searching all his innermost parts.”

In other words, this is how God leads you; through your spirit! Sometimes you might just need to tell your head to get out of the way, and follow what God has been telling you to do from your heart!

Romans 8:6-9 “For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7 Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8 So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God. 9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. “
