The House of God | Is Church Necessary As A Christian?

  • Daily in the Temple
    • Acts 2:46-47 – “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart, Praising God, and having favour with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.”
    • The early Church met in the Temple daily
    • Look at the New Testament
      • Romans was wrote to the Church in Rome
      • 1 and 2 Corinthians to the Church in Corinth
      • Galatians to the Churches in Galatia
      • Ephesians to the Church in Ephesus
      • Philipians to the Church in Philipi
      • Colossians to the Church in Colossae
      • 1&2 Thessalonians to the Church in Thessalonica
      • 1 and 2 Timothy to a Pastor of a Church in Ephesus
      • Titus was wrote to a Pastor of a Church in Crete
      • Philemon was wrote to the leader in the Colossian Church
      • 1 John was wrote to a group of churches
      • 2 John was wrote to specific church leaders
      • 3 John was wrote to a specific church
      • In Revelation Jesus spoke 7 Churches, specifically to the Pastors of those churches
    • You can’t take the importance of the local congregations, church attendance and the need for Pastors out of the Bible
    • Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the habit of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
    • Jesus is coming soon, we should meet together more, not less
  • Gladness of Heart
    • Psalm 100:2 – “Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing.”
    • When you have a good church family, you have a place to come every single week and get encouraged.
    • Some people who come to this church don’t hear one encouraging thing all week until they walk in these doors and the preaching starts.
    • John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]
    • Bible says “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord will deliver you out of them all” the Bible says “No weapon formed against you shall prosper” Bible says he makes all things work for the good of those….
  • Praising God
    • Psalm 95:1-2 – “O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.”
    • When the devil wraps people up in Depression, one of the first thing he begins to affect is the music they listen too.
    • Satan loves to use music to bring depression.
    • The devil thrives in somber, sad, depressing lyrics. But in an atmosphere of joy he’s like a fish out of water. He can’t thrive when you start singing praise to God
    • God inhabits the praises of His people.
    • At The River we sing songs of victory, songs that help us overcome.
    • The Bible says at the midnight hour paul and silas sang praise to God and the doors of the prison flew open
  • And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved
    • Every day, we see people saved in Coshocton.
    • We all have something to bring to the table
    • You plugging into a Church means you can do your part to see people go to heaven
    • In 100 years, all that’s going to matter in the people we took with us
