Misconceptions About Divine Healing | Walking in God’s Healing Power

Common Errors
1. God uses sickness and disease for his glory
Being sick and diseased doesn’t bring God any glory.

“He’s just trying to develop your character and teach you through all of this” There’s no verse in the Bible to support this.

2. Well, we are all called to suffer for Christ – “Pauls Thorn”
The suffering we are called to is persecution, not sickness and disease.

Pauls thorn in his flesh was not sickness and disease, it was a messenger of Satan. The devil was using someone to persecute him

3. God heals but only in His sovereign will
1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. 15 And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.

Praying “if it be thy will” isn’t confidence towards God. We should know the will of God before we start praying, and pray with confidence.

God’s will is found in His Word – it’s always His will to heal.

The only time we pray “If it be thy will” is when it has to do with consecration.

Jesus’ Atonement

Sickness and Disease is the price mankind had to pay for separation with God through the fall of man. It’s one of the results of sin.

For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. 11 And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement. 12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:10-12

“Atonement” – reconciliation; reparation for an offense or injury.

The Atonement means that Jesus paid the price for us. All the punishment for man’s sin came upon Jesus.

Being saved doesn’t just mean we are saved from hell. It means we are saved from the curse of the fall because of the Atonement – because Jesus PAID that price for us.

“We have NOW received the atonement”

Receiving the atonement means we also can receive liberation from the consequences of sin which includes sickness and disease!

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.
