1 John 5:14-15 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us: 15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
1 John 5:14-15 AMPC And this is the confidence (the assurance, the privilege of boldness) which we have in Him: [we are sure] that if we ask anything (make any request) according to His will (in agreement with His own plan), He listens to and hears us. 15 And if (since) we [positively] know that He listens to us in whatever we ask, we also know [with settled and absolute knowledge] that we have [granted us as our present possessions] the requests made of Him.
Prayer is communicating with God
Lifestyle of Prayer
1 Thessalonians 5:16-17 pray without ceasing
Not just when you need something
Attitude of Gratitude
Gratitude: “the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.”
Phil 4:6 Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition ([b]definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.
The Prayer of Faith
1. Know the Word
Romans 10:17 So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Jer 1:12 Then the LORD said to me, “You have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it.”
Faith begins where the will of God is known.
God’s will is found in His Word
What scriptures are you standing on when you are praying?
John 15:7 If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
2. Say it
It’s unheard if it’s unspoken
You have to say to mountains be removed
How did you get saved?
Romans 10:8-10 But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; 9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
You confessed with your mouth, you believed in your heart
Two keys of answered prayer is saying and believing
2 Cor 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;
What you believe will come out of your mouth- either words of faith or words of doubt/unbelief
Speak faith filled words
3. Believe it
If you don’t even believe it,
James 1:6-8 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. 7 For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord. 8 A double minded man is unstable in all his ways.
4. Receive it
“Receive” is Greek word ‘Lambano’ meaning “take”
5. Acts on it
James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
