Thou shalt also decree a thing, and it shall be established unto thee: and the light shall shine upon thy ways. (Job 22:28 KJV)
January 1st marks Day 1 of our 31 Days of Intensive Prayer Challenge. We are asking all members of the The River Church to take January as a month of prayer. Not just casual prayer, but focused, daily, prayer. If you are truly ready to enter into the deeper realms of God, and strengthen your connection with your Heavenly Father, then we encourage you to make a quality decision to join the The River Church (and other churches) in this time of intense prayer!

WHAT IS “INTENSIVE PRAYER”?
Intensive Prayer: This means to devote significant time and energy to connect deeper with God in prayer.
Focused: Each day our prayers are focused on specific needs, challenges, desires, intercession for loved ones, breakthrough and direction.
Heartfelt: It’s beyond casual or routine prayers. Aim for fervent, heartfelt praying and intentional time with Him.
Sacrificial Time: Plan to make praying a priority above all else. Set specific hours of the day in advance to pray and working your daily schedule around that - distraction free!
Persistence and Consistency: Stick with praying daily no matter how your flesh is feeling or what is going on! This is a time to put the flesh under, and learning to take our eyes off the storms of life and on to Jesus.
Discipline: A “disciple” means a “disciplined one”. This is a time of spiritual discipline engaging God in prayer, reading scripture and worship daily!
Fasting: Fasting is not required, but is encouraged. Fasting food brings your flesh (the part of you that resists God) to its lowest point, while prayer & worship will bring your spirit to its highest point. When done correctly it will greatly amplify the intensity of your prayer life.
Faith & Expectancy: Intense prayer means unwavering faith in God’s power, promise and Word. Faith begins where the will of God is known, and God’s will is found in His Word!
Corporate Prayer: Intensive Prayer means engaging God privately and corporately - like they did in the Book of Acts!
