Dealing with Offenses | Daily Devotional #3

Jesus said unto them, “All ye shall be offended because of me this night” (Matthew 26:31). When you follow Jesus, you will have opportunities to be offended because of Him. When we receive communion it’s a time to look at our own hearts. The Bible warns us that many are sick and diseased and die early in the Church because they receive communion in an unworthy manner.

Remember Judas? When he received communion, Satan entered into him. Did you know it’s possible to drink damnation and judgment on yourself during communion?

1 Cor 11:28 But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

You have to make sure that you are not offended at the Lord’s body like Judas was when he ate with the other disciples. The enemy will come to trip you up and sideline you. Think of all the awesome things God wants to do through your life. You can’t fulfill those dreams if you are offended. You cannot do it while you’re bitter and angry. There are things in our life that we just have to just let go of, and offense is one of those things.

1 Peter 5:6 Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time…

We have to look into our hearts and examine if we have allowed an offense to come in. Though some “love the Lord” with all their heart they are deeply offended about giving, soul winning, miracles, other Believers or even how they feel they’re being treated.

Thank God that Joseph in the book of Genesis didn’t let offense, bitterness and resentment keep him in the prison when he was treated poorly. He past the tests, God exalted him because his heart was humble.

Is there something that has offended you? If so, this can be the very think blocking you from receiving all that has been made available to you at Calvary’s cross. Don’t allow the storms of life to keep you offended.

As we keep our hearts right and pure, God will bring us through to the other side. You WILL have times where you could be offended; storms will come, thoughts will come, attacks from the enemy will come – but I’m here to tell you the Lord will bring you through every single thing! Choose not to be offended, choose that you will not be taken out by the enemy!

To retain “offence” in our lives is to drink of the cup of lonliness where no one wants to live because you remain bitter and angry ,which comes from the Devil, himself. Drinking of the cup of lonliness comes when we stop loving others and begin hating others, as does the father of lies, Satan. God’s Word is the only cure for extinguishing this “virus” of the human soul. Love God and avoid all “offences”, by the power of the Holy Spirit. To God be the glory.
