Condemning yourself, or others, does not bring God glory.
Ephesians 1:6 says, “To the praise of the glory of His grace, wherein He hath made us accepted in the beloved.”
God is glorified when we receive His grace, NOT when we reject it through self-condemnation. Here are 10 more scriptural reasons why you should never condemn yourself, or others!
1. Because God Doesn’t Condemn You, He Justifies You.
Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus.” If God says no condemnation, who are you to overrule Him? Part of the fear of the Lord is learning to stop condemning yourself and others.
2. Because Jesus Already Took Every Charge Against You.
Romans 8:33–34 “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth… Christ died, yea rather, is risen again, who makes intercession for us.” Don’t condemn someone that Jesus Christ Himself is defending!
3. Because condemnation is the voice of the enemy, not the Spirit.
John 16:8 shows us that the Spirit convicts, but He does NOT condemn. If the voice crushes you with a weight instead of leading you back to God, it’s not from Him. Revelation 12:10 calls Satan “the accuser of the brethren.”
4. Because God’s correction leads to life, not shame.
Hebrews 12:6 “For whom the Lord loves He chastens.” God corrects like a loving Father, not like a judge sentencing you. Receive God’s love for yourself, and let that love for through you to others.
5. Because shame is not from God; it was nailed to the Cross.
Colossians 2:14 “He cancelled the handwriting of ordinances that was against us…” Your past was LITERALLY erased. One translation says “He canceled the record of changes against us, nailing it to the cross”. When you condemn yourself, you’re bringing up charges that God already put in the shredder!
6. Because your righteousness isn’t based on your performance.
2 Corinthians 5:21 “He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” Righteousness is a gift that is bestowed on us by God. It is something given, not earned by our works; so that means condemnation has NO BASIS!
Condemnation contradicts the fact that God’s already settled your account and placed you in right standing! You are FORGIVEN – your DEBTS have been PAID IN FULL! The Cross Was Enough!
7. Because God understands your weakness and still welcomes you.
Hebrews 4:15–16 says that because Jesus became a human, He can “empathize with our weaknesses”, and it goes on to say “let us come BOLDLY to the throne of grace to obtain mercy in our time of need”
You are invited to come boldly, not shamefully, to the throne of grace.
8. Because God remembers your sins no more.
Hebrews 10:17 “Their sins and iniquities will I remember no more.” If God doesn’t bring them up, why should you?
9. Because condemnation takes you backwards, but God calls you forward.
Philippians 3:13–14 “Forgetting those things which are behind…”
10. Because Jesus didn’t come to condemn you, but to save you.
John 3:17 “For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.” If Jesus didn’t come to condemn you, then the only real condemnation is to reject His Grace! Receive it, and accept what He did into your heart today!
