The definition of “Discouraged” is: “Having lost confidence or hope; dejected; disheartened.” and “lacking in resolution”. Having resolution means to be determined and unwavering!
It’s important to always remember that the devil is a hope thief! Jesus said that the devil only comes to STEAL, kill and to destroy. He wants to steal your hope, your joy and peace, kill your destiny and if he can, destroy you. But praise God, we’ve been given authority and power over the enemy. It’s not scriptural to ever fear the devil, but it’s scriptural to be aware of him.
2 Cor 2:11 says, “…in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes.” 1 Peter 5:8 also says, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”
Be aware, be sober-minded and be vigilant of the plans and schemes of the enemy, but never fear him. When you are aware that the enemy is attacking your hope, and trying to bring you in discouragement, you can begin to take steps according to the Word of God to bring yourself through it!
Psalm 43:5, “Why am I discouraged? Why is my heart so sad? I will put my hope in God! I will praise him again— my Savior and my God!”
Part of getting out of discouragement is making the decision that “I WILL put my hope in God! I WILL praise Him again!” It’s a decision you make, to choose to hope in God! It’s very important that the moment you find yourself discouraged, you don’t waller around in it and fall into the sin of feeling sorry for yourself. When all of the people were against David and even spoke of stoning him, he became greatly distressed. But the Bible said he encouraged himself in the Lord.
1 Sam 30:6 “Now David was greatly distressed, for the people spoke of stoning him…But David strengthened himself in the LORD his God.”
Psalm 27:13, “Yet I am confident I will see the LORD’s goodness while I am here in the land of the living.”
You WILL see the Lords goodness! You WILL see what He has promised you! Don’t let the devil steal your hope!
