1. An “Absalom Spirit” seeks to be where submitted people are. Their goal is to influence people with their own agenda which isn’t in line with the Churches vision or the vision of the Senior Pastor.
2 Samuel 15:2 Absalom would get up early and stand by the side of the road leading to the city gate.
2. It undermines the authority of spiritual leaders and fosters discontentment among the people.
2 Samuel 15:3 Whenever anyone came with a complaint to be placed before the king for a decision, Absalom would call out to him… “Look, your claims are valid and proper, but it’s too bad the king doesn’t have anyone to hear it.”
3. The “Absalom Spirit” expresses a desire for a position and capitalizes on people’s grievances.
2 Samuel 15:4 And Absalom would add, “If only I were appointed judge in the land! Then everyone who has a complaint or case could come to me and I would see that they receive justice.”
4. It employs manipulative tactics to win people’s trust, establishing emotional bonds as a means to cultivate a following for its own agenda.
2 Samuel 15:5 Also, whenever anyone approached him to bow down before him, Absalom would reach out his hand, take hold of him and kiss him.
BEWARE the kisses of the Absalom. The gifts, verbal flowers and false kindness is a means to the end. It’s for their own position, influence and power. The Absalom of the Bible was very successful in his manipulation.
5. The “Absalom Spirit” succeeds in diverting loyalty and support from anointed spiritual leadership, and “steals the hearts of the people.”
2 Samuel 15:6 Absalom behaved in this way toward all the Israelites who came to the king asking for justice, and so he stole the hearts of the people of Israel.
