The Bible says in James 1:21-25, “Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you. Do not MERELY LISTEN to the word, and so deceive yourselves. DO WHAT IS SAYS. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it–not forgetting what they have heard, but DOING IT—they will be blessed in what they do.”

The Bible is not something for us to just read and think to ourselves, ‘Wow, how nice’ or ‘What a great scripture.’ the Bible says, “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God (he’s talking to YOU Christian!) may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2 Timothy 3:16-17)

To do what the Bible tells us to, we must first read it. And we must read it humbly, allowing the Holy Spirit to change our minds, thoughts, opinions & even our feelings. One area that is often tested in the Believer’s life is that of forgiveness.

Here are some scriptures to meditate on on forgiveness!

1.) It’s a Christian’s glory to forgive
Good sense makes one slow to anger, and it is his glory to overlook an offense. Proverbs 19:11

2.) If you forgive others God will forgive you
For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses. Matthew 6:14-15

3.) Unforgiveness can hinder our prayers
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. Mark 11:24-25

4.) We must love & forgive to be able to love God
If anyone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother. 1 John 4:20-21
