Resurrection Power

The Power of the Resurrection
In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. He is not here: for he is risen…  Matt 28:1-10

The Bible says in Acts 1 that for forty days after Christ resurrected, He appeared and showed Himself alive by many infallible proofs. I wonder what all happened in those 40 days! Unfortunately, we do not have the full account of what all Jesus said and did after the resurrection. We know that in one instance, Jesus walked through a wall and spoke with the Apostles. We also know that the Old Testament saints rose from their graves and appeared too many. There was no doubt that Jesus was alive, because of the demonstration of His power!

Resurrection Power in Us!
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
Romans 8:11

The Bible says that the same Spirit who raised Christ from the dead now lives on the inside of us. That means we have resurrection power in us! Just like Jesus appeared, and for forty days He showed Himself alive by many infallible proofs, we too have been given power to show and prove that Jesus is alive!

“And with great power the apostles were giving their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all.” Acts 4:33

Power over Sin
“O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Cor 15:55-57
“if Christ has not been raised, your faith is worthless; you are still in your sins.” 1 Cor 15:17

Jesus called the Holy Spirit our “Helper”. Some, even in the Church, are saying that it is impossible to live a holy life. Do not listen to the lies of the devil saying you can’t do it. We can overcome sin, addictions and temptations by the awesome power of the Holy Spirit Who lives in us! As we die to our flesh, we have power to live holy and pure lives. Believers should be able to demonstrate to the world what a holy, uncompromised, life looks like!

Power to save
“If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.” Romans 10:9

When you confessed Jesus as Lord, and believed in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you were Born-Again! In fact, when Jesus was raised from the dead, the Bible says that Jesus was the “first born among many brothers and sisters”. In other words, Jesus was, in a sense, the first one to be “Born Again”! That makes Jesus not only our Lord and Savior, but also our Brother! The Bible says that we have been engrafted into the family of God! You are a part of a new family, with God as your Father, Jesus as your brother and Heaven as your home! Hallelujah!

Power to be a witness
After Jesus had resurrected, Jesus told the disciples in Mark 16 to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. In Acts 1:8 Jesus said you would receive Power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you and YOU would be a witness!
