Jesus my Joy and Peace

For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17

The world is in no short supply of reasons why you can be sad, worried and miserable. That is why the Word of God instructs us to set, and fix our minds, on heavenly things and NOT on earthly things!

Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. Colossians 3:1

Some believers are peace-filled and joy-filled on a Sunday morning when the Word of God is preached and they’re in the Presence of God with other Believers, but then that quickly changes to sad, miserable, and hopeless on Monday morning. It’s easy to think about heavenly things in Church, but we must train ourselves to keep our minds in that place 24 hours a day, 7 days a week!

You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you! Isaiah 26:3

PERFECT PEACE! That’s what rightfully belongs to you as a Child of God, and no person and no devil in hell has the right to take that away from you or make you feel guilty for having it! The key is having your thoughts fixed on God, and the things of God! As long as your interests are invested in the things of the world, you’re always going to struggle maintaining peace and joy.

Go ahead, and in your mind, think about how big your problems are, then think about how big your God is – Hallelujah!

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you believe in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13

Did you know peace and joy is something you can be filled with? Jesus had it, and so did the apostles!

At that time Jesus, full of joy through the Holy Spirit… Luke 10:21

And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost. Acts 13:52

Did you know the Bible even compares being filled with the Holy Spirit to being drunk on wine? When you are filled with alcohol, what happens? You get drunk. As Believers, alcohol is something the Bible tells us to avoid. The Scriptures tell us that alcohol is destructive, Proverbs says not to gaze at wine or to crave strong drinks, and that those led astray by it are not wise. Many go to alcohol as their source of joy and peace, but that’s like going to the devil just to try to get relief from the devil! God has something so much better for us. Many do not experience actual, overflowing Joy in the Holy Spirit, because they are still drinking what the world has to offer. You can’t have it both ways. You can have the worlds wine, or you can have God’s New Wine!

Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit… Eph 5:18

[Peter said,] These people are not drunk, as you suppose. It’s only nine in the morning! No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: “‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people.” – Acts 2:15-17

I believe this year you will experience what Peter said when He said “it’s Joy unspeakable and full of glory!”, In Jesus name!
