Believer’s Authority: Resistance

James 4:7, “Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”

Luke 4:13 And when the devil had ended every [the complete cycle of] temptation, he [temporarily] left Him [that is, stood off from Him] until another more opportune and favorable time.

Temptations come to every person, young and old. It’s our job to resist those temptations with the truth of the Word of God. Sometimes older people are tempted to feel not of use anymore, but that isn’t true at all. Moses was 80, and Aaron was 83 when they made their demands to Pharaoh. Psalms 92:14 says, “In old age they will still bear fruit; healthy and green they will remain…”

Some get tempted to stop believing for prosperity, increase and the blessing that’s available to them because of the circumstances of life, or a financial blow.

Others get sick and then the devil tempts them to give up, and stop believing for the healing that rightfully belongs to them. Healing is the children’s bread (Matt 15:26)! The devil even tempts those who are deathly ill to give up and die before their time. Say “No!” to the devil! Don’t give into that temptation!

There are people who are fulfilling the call that God has on their life and the enemy begins to attack them, and try to wear them down until they get discouraged and are tempted to quit. But the Word of God tells us not to grow weary in doing well, for in due season we will reap if we faint not!

We’re not going to faint, we’re not going to quit, and we’re not going to give up! The Bible says in Hebrews 10 that the “just shall live by faith”, and the next verse says “we are not like those who draw back into perdition, but we are of those who believe and by faith preserve the soul”. Stand up and let the devil know that you’re not drawing back and you believe God! The more he attacks, the more ground we’re going to take for the Kingdom!

Luke 4:14, “Then Jesus went back full of and under the power of the [Holy] Spirit into Galilee…”

Jesus was full of Gods power, even during the temptations He was facing from the devil. Many Believers are so happy to be saved and on their way to heaven, and they look forward to heaven so they can get relief from the devil. But oh, if they would only come to realize the Power that has been made available to every Born Again child of God! Just like Jesus was full of Gods Power, so you too, as a Believer, can also carry that Power! Paul said it’s the treasure we carry in our earthen vessels! You can’t resist the enemy in your own strength, but you can be strong in the Lord and in the Power of His might!

Eph 6: 10-13, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore..”
