1. Baptism in the Holy Spirit
And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high. Like 24:49
When Jesus was resurrected He gave the disciples instructions on what should happen next. He made it very clear that they needed to be endued with Power from on high before they did anything else. He also told them in Acts
For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence… But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me… Acts 1:5;8
For Jesus, His miracle ministry began after the Holy Spirit came upon Him when He was baptized in the Jordan river in Matthew 3. The heavens opened and the Holy Spirit descended upon Jesus. John 2 records the first miracle that Jesus performed after being empowered by the Holy Spirit when He turned the water into wine.
Jesus wanted His disciples to have the same exact empowerment in their lives so they could do the same and even greater works than Himself (John 14:12)!
This was not optional for His disciples to have, nor should it be today. Jesus gave them a command to be baptized in the Holy Spirit so that they could be effective. The same is true today; apart from Him we can do nothing. The Supernatural Baptism in the Holy Spirit is the introduction to having Gods Supernatural Power in your life. It is available now, and you receive this empowerment from Jesus when you ask Him for it in Faith!
“So if you who are evil know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” Luke 11:13
2. Develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit
The Bible says those who know their God will do exploits in His name! Many people know the Father, and know the Son but do not know the Holy Spirit. It is important to realize that the Holy Spirit is a person. The Holy Spirit is God, and you can get to know Him personally. When you develop a relationship with the Holy Spirit you begin to understand what He likes and doesn’t like. You start to understand how He operates, and how to ‘flow’ with Him. The Bible tells us to walk in the Spirit, and when you learn to do this suddenly you see miracle power operating in your life!
3. Desire the Gifts of the Spirit
1 Corinthians 12:31 tells us to desire the best gifts. You must have a desire to operate in the supernatural power of God before it begins to happen! Passive people are hardly used. Many people sit around doing nothing and say “Well, if God wants to use me then He will.” Though that sounds true, rarely do these people ever get used. In Isaiah 6 God was heard saying “Who will go for us? Who can I send?” Isaiah said, “Here am I, send me!” The Bible says that the “Willing and obedient eat of the good of the land” You must be willing! You must desire what God has for you!
4. Ask the Lord to activate those Gifts in your life
“Ask and it shall be given to you” Ask the Lord for what you want to see. Do you want the Gifts of Healings? Tell the Lord! One person prayed for a hundred deaf people before he saw his first deaf ear open up. That’s someone who means business with God! Let the Lord know you’re serious. Prayer is communicating with God. Whether it’s prophecy, divers tongues, word of knowledge; let Him know that you’re ready and willing to be used and you want that Gift activated in your life! Then tell the Lord you’re believing by faith that He will start to use you in those Gifts.
5. Put yourself in a position to be used
If you never step out in faith, you never see anything! You will never know what is in you until you put yourself in a position for it to come out. You never see any juice until the grape is squeezed!
